WHAT I HELP WITH
Life can be overwhelming, and you might find yourself feeling disconnected, anxious, or burdened by experiences you can't quite name. Perhaps you're questioning whether what you're going through is significant or if it "counts" as something worth seeking help for. It's common to feel uncertain about your feelings, especially when they don't fit neatly into a specific category or diagnosis.

At Liberated Space, I’m here to walk alongside you as you navigate these uncertainties. We'll create a collaborative and culturally affirming environment that honors your unique story. Together, we'll focus on what truly matters to you, cutting through the noise to support your journey toward peace, self-understanding, and meaningful change.
Childhood Trauma
You might find yourself feeling overwhelmed by emotions that seem disproportionate to the situation, or perhaps you struggle with relationships without fully understanding why. Memories from your past may surface unexpectedly, leaving you unsettled or confused. It's possible you're questioning whether your early experiences "count" as trauma because they don't fit the stereotypical narrative. This uncertainty can make it challenging to seek support or even acknowledge that help might be needed.

Together, we'll create a compassionate space to gently explore your past at your own pace. We'll work to identify how your childhood experiences may be impacting your present life, honoring the resilience and protective strategies you've developed along the way. By understanding these connections, we'll empower you to heal old wounds and foster a more nurturing relationship with yourself and others.
Racial Trauma
Navigating daily life while coping with the impacts of racism can be both exhausting and isolating. You may experience feelings of hypervigilance, anxiety, or a persistent sense of not belonging. Microaggressions or overt acts of discrimination might leave you questioning whether these experiences are significant enough to address. It's common to feel uncertain about labeling these experiences as trauma, even though they deeply affect your well-being.
In our sessions, we’ll utilize liberation psychology as our guide to explore your cultural experiences and validate the challenges you've faced. We'll explore how racial trauma has shaped your perceptions and interactions with the world. By honoring your story, we'll work collaboratively to heal these wounds, develop coping strategies, and empower you to navigate your environment with renewed confidence and strength.
Complex Trauma
Life may feel like a constant uphill battle, with one stressful event after another leaving you feeling drained and overwhelmed. You might notice patterns of unhealthy relationships or coping mechanisms that no longer serve you. It's possible you're unsure if what you've been through qualifies as "trauma," especially when the experiences are varied and accumulated over time. This uncertainty can make reaching out for help feel even more daunting.
We'll work together to unravel the complexities of your experiences in a safe and supportive environment. By acknowledging and honoring the multitude of challenges you've faced, we'll identify how these events have influenced your current patterns and behaviors. Through our collaborative efforts, we'll empower you to heal, build resilience, and embrace new ways of engaging with yourself and the world around you.
Anxiety
Perhaps you find yourself constantly worrying, feeling restless, or struggling to relax, even when there's no apparent reason. Sleep might elude you, or you might experience physical symptoms like a racing heart or shortness of breath. You may question whether these feelings are just "normal stress" or something more, leaving you uncertain about seeking support.
In our therapeutic space, we'll explore the roots of your anxiety and how it affects your daily life. We'll develop personalized strategies to manage these feelings, focusing on both immediate coping mechanisms and deeper understanding. By honoring your experiences and fostering self-compassion, we'll work towards reducing anxiety's impact and enhancing your overall well-being.
Prenatal, Postpartum, Parenting
The journey to and through parenthood can be filled with unexpected challenges and emotions. You might be grappling with feelings of loss, frustration, or isolation after experiences like medical complications during delivery, adoption processes, miscarriages, abortions, foster care transitions, IVF treatments, or surrogacy arrangements. Discussing these deeply personal experiences can feel incredibly vulnerable, and you may wonder if your feelings are valid or if others would understand.
I'm here to provide a compassionate and non-judgmental space where you can share your story openly. We'll navigate the complexities of your journey together, acknowledging the courage it takes to discuss these sensitive topics. By offering focused support tailored to your unique situation, we'll work towards healing, resilience, and finding peace in your path to and through parenthood.
